Fred Richman
Fred Richman died a few weeks ago. He would have been 86 in May 2024.
Fred taught me a great deal about how to do research. He was a good friend and an amazingly insightful collaborator. Without his leadership, constructive mathematics might not have survived into the current century, let alone have achieved the level of acceptance that, as is shown by CUP's publication of the Handbook of Constructive Mathematics, it now has. R.I.P., my old friend.
Remembering Erik Palmgren
Erik died unexpectedly in November 2019, less than two months after the end of what became my last visit hosted by him in Stockholm. This short eulogy was recorded for the Minnesstund for him, held in the Matematiska Institutionen, Stockholms Universitetet, on 22 November 2019.
